2 Samuel 17:24-18:18. Speaking of David's son Absalom, one writer notes; "He who would be famous, is therefore justly made forever infamous." Absalom was a rebel and he paid dearly for his rebellion against God and against God's king. Yet, to some degree, Absalom is part of the legacy produced by David's own failure. It is humbling for us to realize how our own failures can effect our children. But even in this sad story, we catch a glimpse of God's grace and mercy despite our own rebellion and failure...
