2 Samuel 19:9-15;41-43. As David begins to return to Jerusalem, he is a tentative king returning to a tentative people. He is not a man in complete control of himself. He lacks an awareness of his own calling. In this passage, we see a cautious inquiry made concerning him; conditions placed upon his return; and a competitive quarrel that ensued as a result. This flawed king serves to remind of how much we all need to welcome another David as the True King...
